At the JID AWARD 2025, the work “Bow Stool” by SHIMANOE Fumina (Tokyo Metropolitan University) received the Silver Prize in the NEXTAGE Division. OKAMURA Chinatsu from the Structural Mechanics, Kobayashi Laboratory, Department of Architecture, School of Science and Technology, contributed to the production of this award-winning piece.
“Bow Stool” is a stool that introduces flexibility and cushioning to rigid wood by creating precision grooves in the material. The work was highly praised for making full use of the characteristics of wood to achieve both comfortable seating and stability.
