On October 10, the Institute for Research and Education in Governmental Administration of the National Examination Testee Support Center held an award ceremony at Kishimoto Tatsuo HALL in Surugadai Campus for students affiliated with the Institute who passed the 2025 National Public Service Examination for Comprehensive Service.

The Institute’s Director NISHIKAWA Shinichi (Professor of the School of Political Science and Economics), who delivered the opening remarks, reported that our university’s total number of final successful candidates for the previous fall and current spring examinations combined was 47, of whom 20 were students affiliated with the Institute for Research and Education in Governmental Administration. Quoting the Gotoda five precepts, a set of instructions for bureaucrats left by the late politician GOTODA Masaharu, the Director encouraged the successful candidates, saying, “With the courage and conviction to ‘report the bad, true facts’ in your hearts, I hope you will walk the path of public service.”

Following the congratulatory address, President UENO Masao touched upon the founding spirit of Meiji University, offering words of encouragement: “Rights and freedoms mean respecting the freedom of others. Independence and self-governance mean disciplining oneself with pride. As graduates of the university embodying this spirit, I urge you to continue your unceasing efforts.”

Representing the successful candidates, ITO Mio (4th-year student in the School of Law) delivered the acceptance speech. After expressing gratitude to the Institute personnel and other supporters, she stated her resolve: “Passing the exam is not the goal. In these uncertain and changing times, moving this country forward is no easy task. But as Meiji University students who have cultivated our individuality, there are things only we can do.”
