This award recognizes nascent research presentations at the Computer Security (CSEC) Research Presentation Meeting of the Information Processing Society of Japan that have high potential for future development or open up entirely new fields. Up to 10% of all presented papers receive this award.
The presentation titled VR User Identification based on DTW Distance of Motion Data of the Head and Both Arms, presented at the 108th CSEC Research Presentation Meeting held in March 2025, received the CSEC Excellent Student Research Award.
This paper demonstrates that users can be identified by dynamic features such as their behavior within virtual reality spaces, which were conventionally believed to offer high anonymity. This research is expected to enhance user privacy in metaverse spaces.
