ITAMI Lab. participates in Sagamihara SDGs Expo commemorating the 70th anniversary

On January 26, the ITAMI Taku’s laboratory (ITAMI Lab.) of the Department of Electronics and Bioinformatics, School of Science and Technology, participated in the Sagamihara SDGs Expo commemorating the 70th anniversary of the city’s establishment, collaborating with their joint research partner company. Aiming to encourage citizens, groups, and businesses to take action toward achieving the SDGs, this event featured exhibitions providing immersive experiences of future technologies, such as next-generation mobility.

ITAMI Lab. showcased a smart device to reduce the risk of back pain for nurses and caregivers, developed through joint research. Many visitors, including the mayor and deputy mayor of Sagamihara, stopped by their booth to learn about their efforts.

MIYAMOTO Kazuki , a member of ITAMI Lab. reflected on the event, saying, "It was a valuable opportunity to present our research to the public, and we gained many insights from it. We received encouraging comments from the mayor and many other visitors, which further boosted my motivation for research.”

Another member, HAYASAKA Haruki , said, "Through this exhibition, we interacted with many people and received various comments. We are aiming to create products based on our laboratory’s theme of What Functions Are Truly Necessary? and striving in our research.” ISHII Souichiro described his experience, saying, "I got to see next-generation robots like flying cars up close — it was an incredible experience."
