ASAKAWA competed in the men’s freestyle ski cross at the FISU Winter World University Games 2025 on January 22, 2025 in Turin, Italy, and won a bronze medal.

Ski cross is a freestyle skiing competition and an official event of the Winter Olympics. It is a competition in which several people ski on a slope with various undulations such as jumping platforms and curves at the same time and compete for the order of goal.

ASAKAWA, who finished sixth out of 20 competitors in the preliminary held on January 20, won a bronze medal in the final held on January 22.

Comment from ASAKAWA Yamato
In this race, I finished sixth in the seeding run (time measurement) on the first day and sixth in the round robin on the second day, but I finished third in the final and won a bronze medal. Considering the preliminary results, I’m very happy to be on the podium. In the final, I tried a new starting move, but it didn’t go my way and I got a late start. But I didn’t give up and kept up with my opponents, and my persistent skiing allowed me to recover and finish third. I will work hard to overcome the issues I have learned in this race and do better in the next race.
Thank you very much for all your support. I’m not satisfied with my third place finish, but I’ll do my best to go even higher. Thank you for your continued support!
