As global prices reach unprecedented levels and the yen weakens, Meiji University is responding by restructuring its two subsidy programs: the Study Abroad Encouragement Subsidy and the Study Abroad Encouragement Subsidy for Top Universities. This restructuring will increase subsidy amounts, providing students with greater support for a variety of overseas study plans.
The revised Study Abroad Encouragement Subsidy offers up to 2.2 million yen per year, 700,000 yen more than the current amount, to cover travel expenses, tuition, and other related costs.
The Study Abroad Encouragement Subsidy for Top Universities will continue to offer the maximum subsidy of 7 million yen per student, while expanding the list of eligible institutions to include the top 100 universities worldwide, not limited to those in the United States and the United Kingdom, thereby supporting a wider range of overseas study options.
Both subsidy programs are set to launch in the 2027 academic year.
Meiji University will continue moving forward, creating an environment that encourages students to take on the challenge of studying abroad, supporting them, and promoting the internationalization of university education.
