On February 26, 2025, Meiji University received a certificate of appreciation from the TOEIC test providers, ETS and IIBC. ETS (Educational Testing Service), based in the United States, develops the TOEIC® Program, while IIBC (the Institute for International Business Communication) is responsible for providing the TOEIC® Program in Japan. To present the certificate, Rohit Sharma (Senior Vice President) and Ratnesh Kumar Jha (Global General Manager) from ETS, and FUJISAWA Hiroatsu (President) and NAGAI Soichiro (Managing Director) from IIBC visited the Surugadai Campus. Meiji University was recognized for its long-standing efforts in utilizing the TOEIC® Program.

The university faculty members who attended the ceremony included KOMA Kyoko, Vice President in charge of International Affairs (Professor, School of Information and Communication); ETO Hideki, Deputy Director, Headquarters of International Collaboration and Director, International Student Center (Professor, School of Law); OYAMA Rumiko, Deputy Director, Headquarters of International Collaboration (Professor, School of Arts and Letters); and YOKOGAWA Ayako (Professor, Organization for International Collaboration).

During the informal discussion following the ceremony, the university representatives shared with the ETS and IIBC executives that more than 15,000 Meiji students take the TOEIC test annually, and that the university provides subsidies for the test fee and actively utilizes test scores in its entrance examinations. The representatives also told them that taking the TOEIC test helps motivate students to improve their English skills.

Meiji University aims to foster a stronger partnership with ETS and IIBC to promote internationalization and support students in enhancing their language proficiency.
