On January 24, the Yacht Club received the Environmental Category Award at the JSAF Club/Class of the Year 2025 awards ceremony hosted by the Japan Sailing Federation (JSAF).
JSAF Club/Class of the Year 2025 recognizes yacht (sailing) clubs, class associations, and other organizations that have contributed to the development of the sailing community by creating opportunities for people to take up sailing, fostering the next generation, and building an environment in which sports can be enjoyed safely.
Within the Yacht Club, a Sponsorship Office was established, which worked with sponsors to implement the Sail Reborn Project . By promoting the reuse of worn sails and other initiatives, the club helped raise awareness of sustainability. Regular beach cleanups also earned recognition, leading to the award in the Environmental Category.
The Yacht Club will continue to focus not only on competitive activities but also on environmental conservation initiatives.
Comment from OCHIAI Yuki (New Captain, 3rd year, School of Political Science and Economics)
For those of us who compete at sea, environmental conservation is one of our essential activities. We are grateful that our club-wide efforts have been recognized, and we will continue working to improve our competitive performance while also engaging in environmental conservation activities.
Comment from YAMATANI Sora (New Assistant Manager , 2nd year, School of Political Science and Economics)
We are honored that the environmental conservation activities our club has carried out have been recognized. As an organization active at sea, we will continue to promote activities that contribute to sustainable environmental conservation by linking competitive activities with social responsibility, with the Sponsorship Office at the core.
