SATO Shun (4th-year, School of Political Science and Economics) and MIURA Kao (2nd-year, in the same school) competed in the men’s singles figure skating at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics (February 10 and 13, local time). Sato claimed the bronze medal, marking a historic achievement in his Olympic debut.

Sato staged a remarkable comeback. After placing ninth in the short program (SP) on February 10 with a score of 88.70, he delivered a composed and powerful free skate (FS) to Firebird on February 13, earning 186.20 points — the third-highest score in the segment. With a total of 274.90 points, Sato rose from ninth after the short program to finish third overall, capturing the bronze medal.

Competing in his first Olympic Games, Sato demonstrated exceptional consistency and executed high-quality jumps under immense pressure. His podium finish in the individual event followed an earlier silver medal in the team competition, marking an impressive two-medal achievement in his Olympic debut.
