The Organizing Committee of the Privacy Workshop, chaired by Professor KIKUCHI Hiroaki of the School of Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, received the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications’ Award for Cybersecurity Encouragement at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on March 18, 2026.
Since FY2017, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has commended individuals and organizations that have made outstanding achievements in the field of cybersecurity responses with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications’ Award for Cybersecurity Encouragement.
Professor KIKUCHI promoted the development of privacy protection technologies, and thereby made a significant contribution to the improvement of Japan’s cybersecurity, by forming a community where industry, government, and academia deepen discussions and exchanges regarding such technologies and by providing wide opportunities for people to learn and practice advanced technologies through organizing the first contest in the world where participants compete in the balancing between data utilization and privacy protection.
