YUKI, who took the stage at the report meeting on the United Nations Youth Volunteer program
On April 20, the Organization for International Collaboration held a report meeting on the FY2025 United Nations Youth Volunteer (UNYV) program at the Izumi Campus. At the meeting, YUKI Mio (fourth-year student in the School of Global Japanese Studies), who participated in the FY2025 UNYV program, took the stage. Many students gathered at the venue and listened intently to her experience in the program.
YUKI conducted interviews, created public relations materials, and carried out other tasks at the Ghana Office of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). Looking back on her experience, YUKI said in her report, “I was expected to contribute as an expert, not as a student volunteer. I faced difficulties such as accustoming myself to African English and managing multiple projects, but in the process of overcoming these difficulties, I was able to understand the importance of expressing my own opinions and deepen my self-understanding through interactions with a wide variety of people.” She also told students that she is currently working on an internship at a United Nations’ organization in Tokyo by making use of her experience.
Report meeting
At the end of her report, YUKI encouraged students to take on the challenge of the UNYV program, which allows them to gain experience in international organizations and concluded, “I want you to develop your own strengths through a variety of experiences on a daily basis and acquire English skills necessary to convey them.”
The Organization for International Collaboration will continue to provide opportunities for students to take on the challenge of studying abroad.
