On April 20, Mr. Frédéric Worms, Director of the École normale supérieure - PSL (ENS-PSL) in France, and others visited Surugadai Campus and met President UENO Masao, Vice President (International Affairs) KOMA Kyoko, and Professor TAMOGAMI Kenjiro, Dean of the School of Arts and Letters, to specifically talk about future exchanges.
The purpose of the visit was to exchange views about the conclusion of an inter-university cooperation agreement between Meiji University and ENS-PSL and the acceptance of students from ENS-PSL by the School of Arts and Letters. The visit was made thanks to the relationship between Mr. Cédric Guillerme, Director of the International Relations Office of ENS-PSL, Professor TAMOGAMI Kenjiro, Dean of the School of Arts and Letters, and Professor NEMOTO Misako of the School of Arts and Letters. The School of Arts and Letters expects the students from ENS-PSL to participate and cooperate in various joint programs, including symposiums organized by the school, and is also considering bilateral exchanges of students and researchers, for example, in the future.
President UENO said, “It was a valuable opportunity for us to better understand the ideals and strengths of the two universities. We want to continue constructive dialogue.” Director Worms said, “This is the first time for us to conclude an agreement with a Japanese university in this way. I’m looking forward to signing the agreement with Meiji University.”
After the talk, a reception was held to exchange views and participated in by, in addition to Vice President KOMA and faculty members from the School of Arts and Letters, about 20 faculty members who are involved with France from different schools, including Law, Political Science and Economics, Agriculture, and Business Administration. The School of Arts and Letters will proceed with studies toward the materialization of cooperation in the academic and research fields with the aim of concluding an inter-university cooperation agreement during this academic year.
