Students share real experiences and advice on studying abroad

Jul. 08, 2026

On May 21, the International Collaboration Office held a study abroad consultation event featuring exchange students and students with study abroad experience at Sky Cafeteria on Meiji University’s Izumi Campus.

The event was organized to increase students’ interest in studying abroad, provide information to students interested in studying abroad, and promote interaction with exchange students.

On the day of the event, a total of 24 students offered consultations: 14 exchange students from Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, the United States, the Philippines, and South Korea, and 10 students who had studied abroad themselves and were serving as study abroad student advisors. Students interested in studying abroad or considering doing so gathered at the venue, with approximately 60 students taking part in the event.

During the event, exchange students studying at Meiji University shared insights into student life in their respective countries and regions. Students with study abroad experience also spoke on a wide range of topics, including preparing for study abroad and life overseas, study abroad expenses, language learning methods, balancing job hunting with studying abroad, and changes and personal growth after studying abroad. The event provided an opportunity for students considering study abroad to seek advice directly. Lively interaction and information exchange took place throughout the venue, and the event concluded successfully.

Comments from participating students included, “Hearing from students who had actually studied abroad helped me gain a clearer idea of what studying abroad would be like,” and “Interacting directly with exchange students increased my interest in going overseas.” The event helped participants see studying abroad as more attainable.

Meiji University will continue to hold a variety of events to support students in pursuing international exchange and study abroad opportunities.
