GUARINO giving a speech in Japanese
On July 28, Meiji University held an exchange student completion ceremony at Academy Hall on the Surugadai Campus for international students completing their exchange programs in the spring semester. The exchange program is based on agreements between Meiji University and overseas universities, as well as agreements between individual undergraduate and graduate schools. This time, approximately 280 students from 131 universities in 33 countries and regions completed either a one-semester or one-year exchange program. The number of participants in the completion ceremony stood at a record high of 126.
At the ceremony, UEMURA Takeshi, Deputy Director of the Center for International Education (Associate Professor in the School of Law), gave an opening address, followed by congratulatory remarks from KOMA Kyoko, Director, Headquarters of International Collaboration (Professor in the School of Information and Communication).
GUARINO Silvia from the University of Milan, Italy, then took the stage as a representative of the students completing the program. In a speech delivered in Japanese, GUARINO reflected on the difficulties experienced and personal growth achieved while studying abroad. GUARINO spoke about the importance of not only continuing to pursue one’s goals but also occasionally looking back on the path one has taken and recognizing one’s own growth. At the end of the speech, GUARINO expressed gratitude to fellow students and everyone who had provided support throughout university life.
Also, on July 17, the student organization MuBO (Meiji University Borderless Organization) held an exchange event titled “Magic Night Prom” at Kishimoto Tatsuo HALL on the Surugadai Campus to bid farewell to the exchange students. Dressed in their favorite costumes, the participants enjoyed a lively time together before returning home.
