高校３年生のCatch a waveの「ジャレまが」をモチーフにしたショートエッセイの最終回です。いろいろな作品があって、生徒の普段の生活が生き生きを描かれています。英語的には読みづらい部分もありますが、ぜひご笑覧ください。

 

A.S

  Do any of you have a hard time getting out of the bed in the morning?  What I’m about to tell you will make you want to get up early.

  First, getting up early in the morning allows you to plan your day.  Planning at the beginning of the day can be surprisingly better than not doing.

  Secondly, we feel that breakfast is extremely tasty because there is plenty of time. Breakfast is undoubtedly important part of the day.  Therefore, waking up early is the key to having a good day!

 

C.N

  One day, I got on a train as usual.  Suddenly, a rare passenger got on the train.  It was an insect!  It was big and had a lot of legs.  It jumped throughout the train.  First, I hated it and escaped from it.  However, I changed the way of my thinking.  I perceived that the insect was more frightened than I.  It must have thought, “How big people are!”. After that, I didn’t feel scared so much.  It is important to change the way of thinking when we have difficulty.

  One day, I went to drive with my brother.  It was a little uneasy.  Because my brother has just taken the driver’s license.  And he scratched his car when he was trying to park on the previous day.

  While we were waiting for the traffic lights to change, a police officer came to us and knocked the door.  We were surprised and upset there may have been some problems and we may be punished.  But the police gave us an orange with smile and said, “Let’s eat this.  We are handing oranges because this week is traffic safety campaign.  Bye! Have a nice day!”  We were relieved and enjoyed driving with an orange.

  My cat escaped from the second-floor balcony when my mother hung out the wash.  She jumped from there and didn’t came back a while.  She walked around my house so she is famous among my neighbors.  Although she cried to my family and me, if we had approaching her, she escaped.  We all gave up catching her.  When I studied until midnight, I heard her crying.  So I opened the window and looked around.  I found her! Amazingly, she was crying at the second-floor balcony.  She jumped and came back. I was surprised at her physical power.  Simultaneously, I felt very relieved that she wasn’t injured.

 

S.I 

  One day, I parked my bicycle in the parking lot of a supermarket and went shopping. I couldn’t remember exactly where I parked my bicycle.  An hour later I came back to the parking. I immediately found my bicycle, green.  But the lock wouldn’t open no matter how many times I tried.  I was surprisingly amazed and impatient.  So I attempted to buy punch and try to break the lock.  At the moment, I realized that there was another bike exactly like my green one.  That was my bike.  If I hadn’t noticed it, I wouldn’t have broken someone’s bike, which made me made me feel very scared.

  “Ayuka, are you getting chubby recently?" my grandmother and mother said to me.  In fact, I have gotten fat since Golden Week because I spent time watching dramas at home all day.  I decided to go jogging on a diet.  As my mother knew that I did not like running and it could not last too long, she suggested to me to run with “Maron” who loves running.  I ran around the city park every night with her.  Surprisingly, it was exciting for me after workout, and it is part of my daily routine now.

  In two weeks, I lost three kilos.  I was happy that my diet succeeded.  Whoever wants to lose weight should have a dog.  Actually, my sweet friend “Maron” is a puppy!!

  Recently, I often see exchanges between Japan and overseas.  One of them is the reaction of foreigners to Japanese culture on TV and smartphones.  They are more sensitive and more responsive than the Japanese, so they are undoubtedly impressive. I often watch videos of foreigners who are reacting to Japanese anime and music on YouTube.  Seeing them excited about Japanese culture warms their hearts for some reaction.  Therefore, I think that more Japanese culture should be disseminated to foreign countries.  I feel that sharing our culture benefits both.  I think that promoting this win-win relationship is what we do un a globalized society.

 

M.S

  April 27th was my birthday.  On that day, when I went to school as usual, my friends were standing in front of my locker, smiling at me.  I wondered if there was a trick in the locker, but I pretended not to notice and opened the locker.  I was happy to see that the locker was decorated in a cute way.  At that time, one of my friends inadvertently told me that she was going to tell me about the next surprise.  So, although it wasn’t a surprise, we celebrated with some cake at lunch.  The funny thing about my friends is that they can’t hide it until the end.  Thanks to them, I have a good time every day.  It was an extremely happy birthday for my friends.

  One day, I found a memo in the kitchen.  There are some words such as eggs, milk, and “ratatouille”.  Then, I have a question what is “ratatouille”?  My father, who is reticent, joked, “He is a philosopher in France.”  My mother agreed to this idea.  Then, I asked my brother.  He said, “A letter to you.”  He told a joke too.  My family is unique and funny.  But I was tired of my family at that time.  After all, no one told me the truth.  What is ratatouille?
