On the evening of June 18, an online exchange event was held between exchange students scheduled to arrive in Japan this fall and students of Meiji University. Approximately 200 participants registered in advance, demonstrating strong interest from both prospective exchange students and Meiji students.
The event was organized by the international exchange group Campus Mate and began with a cheerful “Hello” from its representative and facilitator, Ibuki Enya (second-year, Faculty of Law).
First, useful information for living in Japan was shared, followed by a presentation on studying abroad in Japan by Joshua Heyes, an exchange student currently at Meiji University from Sweden. Joshua had also participated in an online event for incoming spring exchange students held last December. His advice, which closely reflected the concerns of students preparing to come to Japan, provided reassurance to many participants.
Next, participants moved into breakout rooms, where exchange students and Meiji students engaged in multiple short conversation sessions. Each room was filled with a lively and friendly atmosphere, with laughter heard throughout.
Finally, Meicom, a student exchange organization, and Campus Mate, which organized the event, introduced their activities. The event concluded with a message from Ibuki Enya: “We are looking forward to meeting all of you in September. Thank you very much for joining us today.”
