President of Temple University paid a courtesy visit

President Richard M. Englert and Provost Gregory N. Mandel of Temple University, Dean Emilia Zankina of Temple University Rome Campus, Dean Matthew J. Wilson of Temple University Japan Campus, and their delegations visited Surugadai Campus on May 16. They exchanged views on the future collaboration with President UENO Masao, Vice President (International Affairs) KOMA Kyoko, Deputy Director, Headquarters of International Collaboration OYAMA Rumiko and Professor YOKOGAWA Ayako, Organization for International Collaboration.

President Ueno expressed his appreciation for the visit to Meiji University, and said that the exchange between Temple University and Meiji University began in 2012 with signing of Agreement of Cooperation. He also mentioned that the two universities strengthened their collaboration through an agreement between the School of Political Science and Economics of Meiji University and College of Liberal Arts of Temple University (which has developed into an inter-university agreement since 2017), and an agreement between the School of Arts and Letters of Meiji University and Temple University Japan Campus on a credit transfer program (now open to all Meiji University undergraduate students), and he hopes to further strengthen the relationship between the two universities in the future.

In response, President Richard M. Englert stated that Temple University take a partnership very seriously that they are especially grateful for the years of partnership with Meiji University, and they look forward to discuss a deeper partnership.

Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the scheduled to commence operations of Temple University Japan Campus Kyoto, sports activities of the two universities, and future possibilities for collaboration, all in a warm atmosphere.
