On December 12, the Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ms. Michiko Ueno, visited the Surugadai Campus, where she observed an English Track course, met informally with President Kenichi Fukumiya and others, and used a videoconferencing system connected to the ASEAN Center opened in April last year to chat with Meiji University students studying abroad in Thailand. Noting that “This visit has shown me that Meiji University is making considerable progress toward internationalization and I have great expectations for its future,” the Parliamentary Secretary stated, “I would like students of Meiji University, with its central location in Tokyo, to work as staff for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, and I hope to see some of you succeed as Olympic athletes as well.” She also mentioned that she planned to visit Thailand in the near future and hoped to visit the University’s ASEAN Center while there.
