School of Global Japanese Studies holds Multicultural Coexistence Forum

On December 4, the School of Global Japanese Studies (Practical Global Japanese Studies B; led by Prof. Keizo Yamawaki) held a Multicultural Coexistence Forum at the Nakano Campus on the theme “Nakano Ward in the Global Age: Aiming to make the community a comfortable one for both Japanese and non-Japanese residents.” In addition to the opportunity for students to offer policy advice to Mayor Daisuke Tanaka of Nakano Ward, this forum also featured a panel discussion by students, Mayor Tanaka, and other experts, in which participants exchanged opinions on the topics of what kinds of support non-Japanese residents need and how to put the abilities of such residents to use for the community, based on the keywords of “multicultural coexistence.”
