The Soft Tennis Club successfully won the men’s team championship in the 2023 All Japan Student Championships (intercollegiate competition) held at the tennis court in the Wakura Onsen Sports Park and other venues in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture on September 2 and 3.

The team competition was held in a tournament where the doubles team winning three games first goes to the next game, and Meiji University won three matches on the first day and started the quarterfinals on the second day. They defeated Fukuoka University 3-0 and Waseda University 3-1, and the final was against the powerhouse Chuo University. The pair of KANAYAMA Yuha (3rd in the School of Business Administration) and OTSUJI Nobuaki (2nd in the School of Agriculture), and the pair of YONEKAWA Yuto (3rd in the School of Commerce) and IKEGUCHI Tokimasa (4th in the School of Political Science and Economics) each won 4-1, while the third pair of NAKAMURA Yuho (1st in the School of Business Administration) and OKADA Yuya (1st in the School of Agriculture, freshman) won 4-3, successfully winning the team championship 3-0.

Following the victory, SAKURAI Tomoaki , the club’s general manager, commented with joy, “It is a great achievement for the men’s coach, KITAMOTO Hideyuki, to lead the way and bring out the players’ natural talents during the period of the intercollegiate competition. I am also proud that all club members have trusted their coach and trainers and endured hard training.”

The club also won the All Japan University Championship in June, winning two national championships in total.
