At Entertainment Computing 2024 (EC2024), held at the Hokkaido Information University from September 2 to 4, 2024, YOSHIMOTO Takegi and MINATO Yoshiki, first-year pre-doctoral students in the Frontier Media Science Program at the Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences, and Professor MIYASHITA Homei received the following four awards for their “Two-dimensional edible lenticular lens design system for dishes whose appearance changes depending on multiple viewpoints.”
Best Special Session Award
An award given to the best research (paper and presentation) presented in the oral presentation (peer-reviewed) track.
Special Session Presentation Recognition
An award given to all research that has passed the peer review in the oral presentation (peer-reviewed) track.
Dialogue Presentation Award
An award given to an outstanding research presentation in the demonstration or poster presentations based on participants’ voting.
Teaser Excellence Award
An award given to an outstanding research presentation in the submitted research introduction videos.
In this research, they realized a two-dimensional edible lenticular lens, an edible material whose appearance changes depending on viewpoints, by forming a lump of jelly that consists of a two-dimensional plane and convex lenses mounted on it. The research was conducted in collaboration with élan vital, a molecular gastronomy restaurant.
In the demonstration, an actual two-dimensional edible lenticular lens, its design tool, and molds to shape jelly were exhibited and well received.
