A poster presentation by SHIRATA Hibiki (2nd-year pre-doctoral student, KOIKE Yuya Laboratory) in the Applied Chemistry Program at the Graduate School of Science and Technology was selected as the BEST XRD POSTER at the 2024 DENVER X-RAY CONFERENCE held in Westminster, Colorado, USA (organized by ICDD). In addition, for the presentation at the international conference, the Robert L. Snyder Student Attendance Award (travel expense subsidy) was obtained from ICDD, the organizer.
Winner: SHIRATA Hibiki (2nd-year pre-doctoral student, KOIKE Yuya Laboratory)
Award name: BEST XRD POSTER
Conference name: 2024 DENVER X-RAY CONFERENCE
Dates: Monday, August 5 – Friday, August 9, 2024
Venue: The Westin Westminster, Westminster, Colorado, USA
Presentation title: Crystalline phase analysis of cosmetic foundation using powder X-ray diffractometry
Presenters: ○SHIRATA Hibiki , OHBUCHI Atsushi,KOIKE Yuya
Research content: A quantitative analysis of rutile (titanium dioxide) in commercial cosmetic foundations was performed using powder X-ray diffraction analysis without using standard samples. In addition to powder X-ray diffraction analysis, quantitative values obtained by X-ray fluorescence analysis were also carefully evaluated. It is considered that the idea was highly evaluated because useful knowledge was obtained as a powder X-ray diffraction analysis technique without the need of standard samples.
