President UENO Masao, Executive Trustee (External Affairs ) SUDA Tsutomu, Vice President (International Affairs) KOMA Kyoko, and others visited the Srinakharinwirot University (Thailand) on August 19.
First, they visited the Meiji University ASEAN Center (hereinafter the “ASEAN Center”) on Srinakharinwirot University’s campus and exchanged opinions with Meiji University students who have been studying in Thailand since August this year.
After hearing from the students about their fulfilling student life abroad, such as, “I want to move to Thailand in the future and work here,” “Thai students are very friendly and I made many friends right away,” and “I feel reassured by the dedicated support from Dr. Tangsirithongchai and staff members of the ASEAN Center,” President UENO encouraged the students, saying, “I'm very happy to hear that you have aspirations and future perspectives. I hope you will share what you are learning and experiencing with other students when you return to Japan. Keep up the good work.”
They then paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Somchai Santiwatanakul, the President of Srinakharinwirot University, and had a meeting. President Somchai said, “We have been continuing the exchange relationship since 2010, and I am grateful that many students have been accepted in the short- and medium- to long-term programs. We hope to further deepen our ties.”
President Ueno responded, “More than 80 students from Srinakharinwirot University have come to Meiji University through the exchange programs. In addition, more than 40 students have studied at Srinakharinwirot University as exchange students. A total of more than 700 students from both universities are actively involved in short-term exchange programs. We hope to continue building a better relationship.”
