The Advanced Plant Factory Research Center was built using subsidies provided through the Subsidy Project for Advanced Plant Factory Research Facility Development sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. The development project was implemented with the aim of popularizing and expanding “plant factories” that can achieve more efficient agricultural production and ensure a stable food supply by serving as hubs of research development, technological promotion, and human resource development. A total of eight organizations with corporate status in Japan (including Meiji University) were selected for the project. The Meiji University plant factory will serve as one of these eight hubs for R&D and personnel training throughout Japan.
