Advanced Plant Factory Research Center strengthens overseas cooperation: Exhibits at Thailand exhibition, signs MOU on mutual cooperation with BIOTEC

Meiji University’s Advanced Plant Factory Research Center (Director: IKEDA Takashi , Professor of the School of Agriculture; Deputy Director: MIURA Noboru , Associate Professor of the School of Science and Technology) exhibited at Horti ASIA 2024, a trade fair for horticulture, floriculture products and technology, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 22 to 24.
Companies and research institutions from all over the world exhibited at the trade fair, which attracted a total of about 12,000 visitors over the course of three days. The Center introduced its achievements of joint research currently underway with four companies in Japan. In particular, many people showed interest in the development of new function controlling factors promoted by Deputy Director MIURA and Fuso Chemical Co., Ltd., and the development of innovative plant factory systems promoted by Director IKEDA and Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd.

The Center also concluded an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) of Thailand on July 1. Having signed an MOU with BIOTEC, which has a diverse track record in agricultural and food biotechnology research, the Center plans to create new joint research, hold joint research meetings based on academic exchanges, make short-term mutual visits by staff members, and submit joint authorship papers.
In addition to cooperation with Japanese companies, the Center will strengthen cooperation with overseas organizations and companies to develop various solutions used at plant factories.
