The 60th All-Japan University Rugby Championship final was held on January 13 at the National Stadium in Tokyo. The Meiji University Rugby Football Club team was defeated by Teikyo University 15-34, becoming runners-up for the thirteenth time, and the first time in two years.

The match was played in heavy rain and at times snow, and was even interrupted by lightning. After conceding an early lead, Meiji scored two tries, AKIHAMA Yuta (3rd year, School of Commerce) crossed the line in the 35th minute and EBISAWA Kohaku (1st year, School of Information and Communication) went over minutes later in the 39th minute, to end the first half behind by two points, 12-14.

A penalty goal by the captain HIROSE Yuya (4th year, School of Commerce) closed the gap in the 63rd minute, but the team was unable to take the lead from Teikyo University before the full-time whistle was blown.

Thank you to everyone who supported the team in the stands at the National Stadium in Tokyo and on TV.
