[Swimming Club] Bronze for Japan in men's 4 x 200 m freestyle relay — SHIMIZU Hiroto and WATANABE Yuta among medal-winning lineup at FISU Games

At the FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, Swimming Club members SHIMIZU Hiroto, a fourth-year student at the School of Political Science and Economics, and WATANABE Yuta, a third-year student at the School of Business Administration, won bronze medals in the men's 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay.

In the qualifying round held on the morning of July 22 local time, SHIMIZU competed as the first swimmer and achieved an excellent time of 1 minute 49.06 seconds, passing the baton to WATANABE, the second swimmer. WATANABE also recorded an excellent time of 1 minute 49.57 seconds, and the Japanese team finished sixth among the 16 teams that competed. In the final held after 21:00 on the same day, SHIMIZU competed as the anchor. He finished with a time of 1 minute 47.68 seconds, more than a second faster than his qualifying time, and won the bronze medal.
