[School of Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences] Professor MORI Hiroyuki received Tamura Commemorative Achievement Award at the Consortium for Electric Power Technology

Apr. 01, 2025

On March 6, 2025, professor MORI Hiroyuki received the Tamura Commemorative Achievement Award at the Consortium for Electric Power Technology held at Building No. 63 of the School of Science and Technology, Waseda University.
This award honors professor TAMURA Yasuo (former vice president of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, IEEE Fellow) of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science and School of Science and Technology, Waseda University, who passed away suddenly at the age of 62 after a strenuous career as a leading Japanese researcher in the fields of PES (Power and Energy Society) of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and C2 System Operation and Control of CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques). This award is given to researchers who have received awards from the national government, the Institute of Electrical Engineers, or other academic societies for their research achievements.

Professor MORI Hiroyuki received the award as a result of receiving 2024 IEEJ Outstanding Achievement Award. The IEEJ Outstanding Achievement Award is given to researchers who have contributed to the development of electrical science/technology or that of IEEJ over the years. He is a candidate for the former award, has developed new technologies in power system engineering, and has long held leadership in the field of power system research. Neural networks, deep neural networks, evolutionary computation, fuzzy inference, data mining, etc. have been used as new technologies of artificial intelligence to solve prediction and optimization of nonlinear systems such as operation, planning, and control of transmission and distribution systems. As a result, a total of 77 papers published in the IEEJ were highly evaluated, resulting in receiving the award.
