Mar. 18, 2026

On January 30, the Organization for International Collaboration held a Top University Study Abroad results presentation and exchange meeting at Academy Common on the Surugadai Campus.
Under the Top University Study Abroad program, students are dispatched to study at universities designated by Meiji University from among universities, such as Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and University of California, Berkeley, ranked 20th or higher globally by rankings such as that of Times Higher Education.
The event was held to foster a network in which students and graduates who have studied at top universities in the world, such as the University of California, Berkeley and Columbia University, and students who plan to study abroad in the future interact and inspire each other.
In the first part of the event, Vice President KOMA Kyoko (in charge of international affairs and Professor of the School of Information and Communication) gave a speech, and then the Top University Study Abroad results presentation meeting was held. MIZOBE Yasuo, Deputy Director, International Student Center (Professor of the School of Global Japanese Studies) moderated the meeting, and three students who were dispatched to study abroad as recipients of Grant S (Top S) and Grant A (Top A) under the Overseas Top University Study Abroad Incentive Grant program took the stage.
In the presentations, HONDA Yuki (third-year student in the School of Commerce), who studied at the University of California, Berkeley (in summer session), and SIROTA Yoshiki (fourth-year student in the School of Commerce) and SON Minhye (fourth-year student in the School of Business Administration), who studied at Columbia University, talked about how they overcame difficulties in their destination countries and how they grew through studying abroad. The participants seemed to be greatly inspired by the presentations given by students who had studied abroad.

In the exchange meeting, the second part of the event, ETO Hideki, Director, International Student Center (Professor of the School of Law) gave a toast, and the participants actively interacted regardless of the school and their years of study. Afterwards, warm messages about the attraction of studying abroad and further strengthening cooperation in the future were sent from persons in charge of partner institutions at the University of Pennsylvania and University of California, Berkeley.
At the end of the event, President UENO Masao (head of the Organization for International Collaboration) said, “I hope you will cherish the experiences and connections you have gained here today. I would also like you to share your experiences with students who have not yet studied abroad and broaden the network.”
Meiji University will continue to promote the establishment of a network for studying abroad in order to further enhance the effects of studying abroad by strengthening the connections among students and building connections with alumni and students after graduation, and to develop human resources who will become true global leaders and contribute to society.
