[Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences] TAKAHASHI Ryu receives the YOC Encouragement Award at the 2025 Annual Conference of Power and Energy Society, IEEJ

Mar. 31, 2026

At the 2025 Annual Conference of Power and Energy Society, Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), the paper titled “Optimal Network Structure for a Power System State Estimation Method Based on the Maximum Correntropy Criterion Using a Multi-Population GBSODE, Taking Asynchronous Measurements into Accounts,” authored by TAKAHASHI Ryu, a second-year master’s student in the Network Design Program at the Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences, Professor FUKUYAMA Yoshikazu and others, received the Young Engineer Oral Presentation Competition (YOC) Encouragement Award.

This award is presented at the Annual Conference on Power and Energy to young researchers aged 35 years or younger for outstanding paper presentations befitting young engineers.

In Japan’s distribution systems, the increasing presence of renewable energy, such as the widespread adoption of residential solar power, has made it even more difficult to monitor system conditions, thereby heightening the importance of power distribution system state estimation technologies. In this paper, they investigated the optimal network structure for a power system state estimation method based on the Maximum Correntropy Criterion using a multi-population global-best brain storm optimization with differential evolution (GBSODE) strategies, taking asynchronous measurements into account. They confirmed that when the total number of individuals is small, ring and pyramid structures, in which the number of individuals per population is large, are optimal.
