[Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences] KAWAUCHI Yusuke and Researcher Hiroyuki Mori Receive the Paper Award of the 82nd IEEJ Academic Promotion Award

KAWAUCHI Yusuke, a first-year master's student (at the time of publication) in the Network Design Program, Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences, and Researcher MORI Hiroyuki (formerly Professor of the Graduate School of Advanced Mathematical Sciences), received the Paper Award in the 82nd IEEJ Academic Promotion Award at the General Meeting of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), held at the Toshi Center Hotel on May 27, 2026.

This award recognizes authors of particularly outstanding papers published in the IEEJ Journal of Industry Applications and the IEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering (TEEE), with the aim of promoting further advances in academic research and technological development in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, information and communications technology, and related disciplines.

For the 82nd award, papers published from December 2022 to November 2025 were considered. The award is presented to authors of exceptionally original and distinguished papers that demonstrate significant academic and industrial value.

The award-winning paper is entitled “A new method for unit commitment (UC) with Quantum Predator Prey Brain Storm Optimization (QPPBSO),” authored by KAWAUCHI Yusuke, MORI Hiroyuki, and Hsiao-Dong Chiang, and published in the February 2025 issue of the IEEJ Transactions on Power and Energy (Transactions B) vol.145 (2) pp.114-122.
