Event "'Find Your Favorite Foreign Book"
Dec. 15, 2023
'Wanting to try English books but lacking the opportunity.'
'Wishing to carefully select a English book.'
In response to such voices, on December 4th during lunchtime, with the cooperation of the Central Library, we held the event 'Find Your Favorite Foreign Book' at the International Lounge in Surugadai (2nd floor of Global Front). We exhibited 130 foreign books of various genres whose library storage period had expired. Students visiting the lounge were encouraged to choose the foreign books they found interesting, and we handed them over to those interested.
Many students took turns visiting and it was impressive to see them happily selecting books, saying things like, 'This cover looks cute,' or 'I wonder what this book is about.'
Moreover, one student said, 'I received such wonderful foreign books, so I want to give away the book I just finished reading to someone.' There were moments where they gifted recently finished books to exchange students.
Furthermore, this event was co-hosted with the 'Lunchtime Social' event, an informal gathering held every Monday for interaction. The venue saw the presence of many international students aiming for foreign books and interaction. They enjoyed interacting with Meiji University students as well.
