The Master’s Degree Program at the Graduate School of Agriculture aims to foster human resources with a high level of expertise and with the professionalism and comprehensive ability to resolve problems from a wide perspective who have cultivated a deep insight into the roots of the problems concerning food, environment and life and a rich sense of humanity. To pursue this aim, we proactively grant admission mainly to students with the following qualities or motivation:
- those who are in sympathy with the educational and research goals set by the Graduate School of Agriculture and have the basic ability and motivation to pursue the goal; and
- those who have the basic academic skills necessary to think self-reliantly and act on their own initiative and have the ability to appropriately perceive things and to make appropriate decisions.
With the above ideals of desirable students in mind, we administer internal entrance examinations, general entrance examinations, entrance examinations for international students, special entrance examinations for adult students and early admission entrance examinations and make selections of graduate students with an emphasis on the ability to think self-reliantly.
Descriptions and levels of knowledge or other qualities required to acquire are as follows:
- to be interested in problems concerning the field of food, environment and life and have acquired a basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, mathematics, life science, economics, etc. required by each program in order to perform tasks;
- to have acquired a wide-ranging education and problem consciousness with regard to natural science and social science, and the ability to think flexibly, necessary to identify problems and look for resolutions independently in the field of food, environment and life; and
- to have acquired the basic abilities in English, communication skills and presentation skills necessary to perform research activities and present research results.
