[School of Science and Technology] Professor AIZAWA Mamoru elected Fellow, Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE)

Professor AIZAWA Mamoru of the Department of Applied Chemistry, School of Science and Technology has been duly elected Fellow, Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE) at the World Biomaterials Congress 2024 (WBC2024), which was held in Daegu, Korea, from May 26 to 31, 2024.

The WBC2024 is the largest international conference that brings together biomaterial societies from around the world once every four years, which is like a biomaterials version of the Olympics & UN General Assembly events. More than 4000 studies were published this time.

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Joachim Kohn, President of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE), presented Professor AIZAWA with the FBSE. The FBSE is considered the highest honor the global biomaterials community can bestow on outstanding scientists. Professor AIZAWA will join a group of just under 500 of the world’s most respected biomaterials scientists.

Professor AIZAWA also serves as the Director of the International Institute for Materials with Life Functions, a Special Institution for Research Promotion.
