Department of History and Geography: Literature + Field survey/Facing “human society and history”

The Department of History and Geography has five courses: Japanese History, Asian History, Western History, Archaeology, and Geography. These examine “human society and history.” Students will study Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South Americas, and other parts of the world, and gradually become familiar with each region’s history and geography. Our goal is to develop students’ ability to think about human society in a multifaceted way. Students conduct not only literature research but also field research. We aim to help them learn the transition and way of human beings and nature from the past to the present.
