9月18日〜9月25日にかけてサハリン，ユジノ・サハリンスクで開催された国際シンポジウム“The Initial Human Habitation of the Continental and the Insular Parts of the Northeast Asia”に，黒曜石研究の海外発信の一環として，島田和高博物館学芸員（センター員）が参加し，口頭発表（The dynamism of obsidian management and the emergence of modern human behavior in the early Upper Palaeolithic in Japan）を行いました。小野昭センター長は，シンポジウムには参加できませんでしたが，誌上発表（“Upper Palaeolithic obsidian acquisition along the Shinano river system in central north Japan”）を行いました。
