Request for books
If the libraries do not have the book you need for your study, you can request it through WebOPAC. Electronic books are acceptable. We will decide whether or not to purchase the requested book according to the selection criteria (Meiji University Library Collection Policy).
How to request
- Please make sure to search the WebOPAC for the book you need. If the book is already in our collection, we will not purchase a duplicate copy.
- Please apply using the "New Purchase Request" on WebOPAC.
- If the purchase is approved, it will be displayed on the Portal Service screen as soon as the book is accepted as part of the library collection and is ready for use. Make sure your e-mail address is registered in the Portal service so that you will also be notified by e-mail. As a general rule, books can be held at the counter for one week after notification.
Notes
- The maximum number of requests per user is ten per school year.
- When applying for a book request, please include the publisher(s), year of publication, edition, and ISBN if possible.
- Select the library of the campus to which you belong.
- Describe your research theme and the necessity for adding the book to the library's collection in detail. If you only provide a general or vague reason, such as "Because it is necessary for my research" or "Because it is necessary for writing a report," your application will not be accepted.
- If the book was published a long time ago, it may not be available due to being out of stock or out of print.
- It may take a few months to obtain a foreign book if it is not in stock at bookstores in Japan.

We accept applications to purchase the materials listed below. E-books are also applicable. Please note that some materials may not be available at certain times of the year. More details will be announced to the eligible groups in Oh-o!Meiji.
