[School of Business Administration] Report on the 9th English Presentation Contest

Nov. 07, 2020

The 9th English Presentation Contest was held wih the participation of about 50students and faculty members
of School of Business Administration on October 17. 11 teams that passed the preliminal document screening presented their research and survey results under the theme of the competition, and 6 judges graded the results based on the criteria such as "Contents", "English proficiency" and "presentation skill". Unlike previous years, this year's tournament was the first time to be held using Zoom, but each team worked hard to prepare for the tournament and it was very exciting.

-Message from one of the awarded students-
We both put in a lot of effort in constantly revising our content by scrutinising each detail and trying to find out what we can improve. Truth be told, we actually reworked our presentation from start to finish two days before the event. As a result, Melody's script was written to be as comprehensible to the listeners and Liana painstakingly designed the powerpoint almost from scratch to fit our theme of "Loneliness". It was stressful but we can say that because we did not settle for "good enough" but aimed for "the best", our efforts paid off.
Preferably, there would be more Q&A sessions from both the judges and participants next year. We think that the ability to answer questions and convince others of your opinions is an attribute that should be focused on too. Due to the 10 min time restriction, many paraticiipants are unable to get their message across effectively. Thus, more focus on a Q&A session would be a viable solution to that.
