国際日本学部の「日本のジャーナリズムＡ」、「日本のジャーナリズムA（E）※」の課外授業（５月２１日実施）で、日本新聞協会の職員の方々とニュースパーク（日本新聞博物館、横浜市）の協力のもと、全国紙、地方紙、英字新聞の記事を読み比べ、切り抜きながら各自が興味を持った記事を紹介し合う「まわしよみ新聞」のワークショップを実施しました。
様々な地域で発行されている新聞の記事を読み比べて、切り抜きながら、グループでの自分の関心について発表をし合うことで、創発的に時事的な関心を高める教育内容です。全国各地の新聞を手に取って読むことで、情報を読み解く能力を向上させ、新型コロナ禍で希薄になった「顔の見えるディスカッション」を再構築する試みです。当日は、「沖縄復帰５０年と１９７２」の企画展や常設展も含めて、ニュースパークの尾高泉館長より、明治大学の学生向けに丁寧な解説を頂きました。

ニュースパークでの回し読みに参加して考えたことは2つあります。１つ目は、選んだ記事からその人の個性を垣間見ることが出来るということです。外国人の雇用、農家の死亡事故、ブランド牛の飼育、政治学者へのインタビューなど人によってさまざまで、その人が普段持っている問題意識や関心が表れているようでした。
２つ目は、紙面で新聞を読む良さについてです。私は普段、ニュースの見出しだけが並ぶ形で表示されるアプリで新聞記事に触れています。そのため、自分が気になった見出しだけクリックして記事を読んでいました。しかし、紙面だと、自分の興味のない分野の記事も自然と目に入ってくることに気が付きました。より知識の幅を広げるために、これからは意識的に紙面を見るように心がけようと思います。（小野寺 千紘）
ニュースパークでは回し読み新聞を体験しました。同じ日の全国紙から地方紙まで様々な新聞を用意していただき、その中から気になった記事を3つ選び、グループ内で発表しました。面白かったことは、他の人がどんな記事に関心を持ったのかを知ることができたことです。自分が好きな情報だけを取り入れることが出来る現代において、他者がどのような記事に興味、関心を持っているのかを知ることは、自分自身の視野を広げ、異なる価値観に触れることができる良い機会だと思います。情報が溢れる社会の中で、多くの人が無意識のうちに視野を狭めてしまっていると思います。そんな中で、回し読み新聞のように普段気にしない情報に触れる機会をつくることは、情報社会を生きるうえで大切なことだと感じました。（島村 陸）
私は小学生５年生の頃、１年間ほど新聞を切り抜いて横に自分の意見を書くというスクラップにハマっていたことがありました。そのため、今回のワークショップも懐かしい気持ちになって楽しむことができました。
ただ単に自分で切り抜いて終わりというわけではなく、同じテーブルに座っている同じ人と共有することが面白かったです。初め彼女たちとは同じ授業を取っているという共通点しかなかったのですが、どの記事を切り抜いたか、なぜ切り抜いたのか話し合っているうちに、お互いの考え方がなんとなく伝わってきて、なぜだか暖かい気持ちになれました。（杉山 靖子）
While visiting the interesting exhibition in the News Park Museum, the topic of “50 years of return to Okinawa” especially touched me. Coming from Germany, the German reunification of 1990 is well known in the world and was a day of Joyce for German people. So I can understand the strong feelings that the Japanese people have towards the unification of Japan and Okinawa in 1972.
I found the exhibition very interesting as It showed the important role the media played during the events in 1972, and how media and newspaper can capture the past for people in the present.（WRIEDT DANIEL MAX KONSTANTIN）
It's the first time I've been to the news park, or we can say it's the first time I read the newspaper in my entire life and having to say it is so different from reading articles on my smartphone. I feel like the article in the newspaper is more official, while, on the other hand, articles on the website are more casual. The news park provides visitors like me know about Japanese history by reading newspapers, and the information starts from almost a hundred years ago to modern society in recent years. We can see serious issues like WWII and issues American military base in Okinawa in this news park. Overall I'm glad I have the chance to experience all of these during my senior year at Meiji University.

Visiting the Newspark was an interesting and intellectual experience. I was able to gain information about the history of Japan as old newspapers are all displayed in the Newspark, also well preserved. It was also interesting to look at the old printing machines. They were all well displayed and we could see the details of the machinery, enabling us to actually see each specific buttons. After looking at the museum itself we gathered in a large room for some work shop. We were told to choose articles in the Newspaper which pulled your interest and explain why we have chosen it. This time was the most enjoyable part for me. I had actually looked at the Newspaper since so long, therefore, it was very informative. After the visit to the Newspark I changed my thoughts about the Newspaper. I always thought that Social Media is more rich in trending information but as I read the newspaper I could know that the most important information and priority news were easily viewed on the Newspaper.
