International students who wish to study in Japan must obtain a resident status. 
Depending on whether you currently live in Japan or abroad, the visa application procedure differs.
Please refer to the details below and follow the adequate procedure.

(1) For those living outside Japan
★(Important) TB Clearance Certificate Required for Students from Certain Countries

 From June 2025, applicants from certain countries will be required to submit a Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance Certificate when applying for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).

  Target Countries and Start Dates
Philippines, Nepal: From June 23, 2025
Vietnam: From September 1, 2025
Indonesia, Myanmar, China: Start date to be announced (under preparation)

  Procedure
Please obtain a TB Clearance Certificate through a designated medical institution in your home country by undergoing a chest X-ray etc.
In principle, submit the certificate with your COE application.
The certificate is valid for 180 days from the date of examination (or 90 days in some cases).

If you have "Reservation Notice" from JASSO, please check the application guidelines from the following link.

STEP1:Complete the “Report of Admission” on the JASSO website

STEP2:Submit the data of "Reservation Notice" through online form*
*Online form will be available by December 2025

STEP3: [From April 1 - mid-April] Apply for the scholarship through Oh-o!Meiji System (Submit your response to the questionnaire and documents*)
*If you do not have a Yucho bank account, complete the account opening process as soon as possible.

STEP4: [mid-April] Annoucements of scholarship application results

<The following students are not able to receive scholarships!>
・Those who did not complete the application process by the deadline
・Those who do not meet the scholarship eligibility requirements stated in the application guidelines
