International students who wish to study in Japan must obtain a resident status.
Depending on whether you currently live in Japan or abroad, the visa application procedure differs.
Please refer to the details below and follow the adequate procedure.
From June 2025, applicants from certain countries will be required to submit a Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance Certificate when applying for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
・Philippines, Nepal: From June 23, 2025
・Vietnam: From September 1, 2025
・Indonesia, Myanmar, China: Start date to be announced (under preparation)
・Please obtain a TB Clearance Certificate through a designated medical institution in your home country by undergoing a chest X-ray etc.
・In principle, submit the certificate with your COE application.
・The certificate is valid for 180 days from the date of examination (or 90 days in some cases).
