What are "Top School Seminar" courses?



This program welcomes teachers and researchers from universities around the world for a short period of time and they offer lectures in English about their specialized fields such as politics, economics, sociology, administration, and history. Courses of “Top School Seminar” are intensive courses of about 4~7 weeks and held during Spring and Fall semester.
 

Top School Seminar courses welcome:

- students who wish to take as many English- taught courses related to politics, economics, governance, sociology, etc. as possible at the SPSE
- students who wish to brush up their language proficiency
- students who wish to meet friends who are interested in global career
- international students as well as exchange students from partner universities
- students who wish to prepare for their study abroad

How to be registered to “Top School Seminar” Courses

① How to register “Top School Seminar” courses
Degree-seeking students of the SPSE
You can register these courses by Web registration during Course Registration Period of spring semester (April). Also, you can add Top School Seminar courses during “Course Registration (Drop & Add) Period” in the Fall semester. For detailed schedule, please refer to the notices on Oh-o! Meiji System.

Exchange students of the SPSE
Please include Top School Seminar courses in the course registration form provided by the SPSE Office upon your acceptance together with other courses offered by the SPSE. The course registration form must be submitted by a designated deadline of each semester.

Students of other Schools of Meiji University
Top School Seminar courses welcome students, both degree-seeking students and exchange students, of other Schools of Meiji University. Each year, about 40 % ~ 50% of the participants are those from other Schools. If you wish to take Top School Seminar courses, please consult with the office staff of your School and register the courses in Spring semester (April) in accordance with the requirements and course registration rules of the School. Top School Seminar courses are regarded as “elective courses from other schools”.
※ Except for exchange students, students are not allowed to add courses offered by other Schools during “Course Registration (Add & Drop) Period” in the Fall semester. Please make sure to register “Top School Seminar” courses during Course Registration Period in the Spring semester if you wish to take them.

② Credits, syllabus
■ The courses are 2-credit courses. Credits earned from Top School Seminar courses are treated as the same as those of other regular courses.
■ For details of the courses content, please refer to "Syllabus 2 (class outline)" as well as find syllabus data of each course on Oh-o! Meiji system.

③ Assessment method
■ Each professor decides assessment method for their course. Please refer to the syllabus of the course for its details.
