What brought you to study abroad in Japan? Why did you choose Meiji University? / 日本への留学を志したきっかけと、明治大学を選んだ理由
What brought you to study abroad in Japan? /日本への留学/を志したきっかけ
My university has an academic partnership with Meiji University, which is one of the reasons I chose to study abroad in Japan. I had previously traveled to Japan last year, and that experience left a deep impression on me. I was fascinated by the country's clean and efficient transportation system, the politeness and humility of the people, and the rich cultural heritage. Japan's balance between modernity and tradition intrigued me.
Why did you choose Meiji University? / 明治大学を選んだ理由
Meiji University is widely recognized both in Thailand and internationally, with a strong academic reputation. Its location is convenient and not too far from my home country. Additionally, the university offers a wide range of courses not only in English but also in Japanese, providing opportunities for international students to improve their language skills. Exchange students can also take courses outside their main faculty, which further enriches the learning experience.
What do you like about Meiji University? / 明治大学の好きなところについて
(1) What is your favorite place on the campuses of Meiji University? / 明治大学のキャンパスで好きな場所はどこですか。
One of the things I appreciate the most about Meiji University is the professors. They are extremely enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching. Their passion for their subjects inspires students, and they always encourage active participation and knowledge-sharing in class. I particularly value how they create an open and inclusive environment where students from different backgrounds feel comfortable expressing their thoughts. The international atmosphere at Meiji University also adds to the learning experience. I never felt left out. My favorite place is the library because it's where I enjoy relaxing and doing my homework. It's comfortable and spacious. In addition, the university provides several co-working spaces where students can do group work, study, and complete assignments.
(2) What is your favorite subject (course) at Meiji University? / 好きな授業を教えてください。
Course title: Advanced Seminar (Lecturer: Prof. Unno)
Among all the courses I’ve taken at Meiji University, the Advanced Seminar class has been my favorite. This course was unique in that it combined classroom learning with real-world experiences. We participated in several fieldwork activities that allowed us to engage directly with local communities. These hands-on experiences helped deepen our understanding of the course material. The group projects were also highly engaging—we collaborated with classmates from different cultures and academic backgrounds, which led to eye-opening discussions. While there were occasional misunderstandings due to language or cultural differences, we always found ways to overcome them and worked together harmoniously. The practical skills and memories from this class are truly invaluable.
How is your life in Japan? / 日本で過ごした感想について
(1) Ovreall impression of your time at Meiji University and in Japan / 明治大学と日本で過ごした感想は?
My overall impression of my time at Meiji University is overwhelmingly positive. I participated in numerous events and activities organized by the university, which gave me a chance to connect with both local and international students. One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was the friendships I formed with people from different countries. These relationships enriched my perspective and helped me understand the world better. Whether it was attending cultural festivals, joining student clubs, or simply spending time together, each moment contributed to a collection of unforgettable memories. This exchange program wasn’t just about studying—it was about personal growth, global understanding, and meaningful connection.
(2) What made you surprised during the study abroad in Japan? / 日本に留学して驚いたところは?
One of the things that surprised me the most during my stay in Japan was how fashionable Japanese people are. Everywhere I went, I saw individuals with distinct and creative fashion styles. Their attention to detail, unique expressions, and confidence in wearing what they love were truly inspiring. Unlike some countries where people tend to dress similarly, in Japan, fashion seems to be a form of self-expression. It was fascinating to see how cultural values and modern trends merged to create such diverse looks. Observing this made me more interested in fashion myself and encouraged me to experiment with my own style.
(3) Comparing with your student life in/at your home country/institution, do you find anything that you particularly enjoy as well as anything challenging for you in your student life here in Japan? / 自分の国の学生生活と比べて、日本の学生生活で楽しいところ・大変だと感じるところはありますか?
■Things you particulartly enjoy / 楽しいところ
It’s hard to pick just one thing that I enjoyed the most during my time in Japan because there were so many unforgettable experiences. I loved spending time with my friends, exploring new places, and trying things I had never done before. We often visited traditional markets, sampled various Japanese dishes, and took part in cultural activities like tea ceremonies and kimono-wearing. I also enjoyed strolling through shopping districts, visiting tourist spots, and taking countless pictures to capture those special moments. These experiences not only brought us closer together but also allowed me to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Japanese culture.
■Things challenging for you / 大変なところ
The biggest challenge I faced during my exchange program was the language barrier. Before coming to Japan, I had never studied in an English-speaking environment, and my Japanese proficiency was quite basic. At first, it was difficult to follow lectures and communicate with classmates. However, I made a strong effort to improve and never gave up. I studied hard, practiced speaking every day, and most importantly, my friends were supportive. They always encouraged me and helped me when I struggled. Thanks to them, I slowly gained confidence and became more comfortable using English.

About yourself and messages / ご自身について&メッセージ
(1) What is your dream? / 将来の夢は何ですか?
Before coming to Japan, I had never seriously thought about my future goals. Whenever my parents asked me what I wanted to do after graduation, I honestly didn’t know how to answer. I wasn’t sure about my strengths, interests, or long-term aspirations. I often lived day by day, trying new things but without a clear direction. However, over the past three years at university, I have actively participated in various activities to explore different possibilities and better understand myself. Now, after reflecting deeply and learning from both academic and personal experiences, I’ve realized that I want to pursue a master’s degree. I believe further education will help me discover my true potential and prepare me for a meaningful career.
(2) Please introduce something about your home country and home university./ 故郷の国や所属大学の紹介をしてください。
I am currently studying at Thammasat University in Thailand, where I major in Political Science, just like my major here at the School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE) at Meiji University. Thammasat University is one of the most prestigious institutions in Thailand and is known for its commitment to social justice, democracy, and academic freedom. It has four campuses and offers a wide range of faculties. Interestingly, Thammasat is one of the few universities in Thailand where students are not required to wear uniforms, symbolizing its progressive values. The university also encourages students to speak up for what they believe is right and to stand against injustice, which makes it a very empowering place to study. I recommend everyone to visit my country, where you’ll experience a rich and unique culture, kind-hearted people, delicious food.
